Evening Hills I
Recently, I was moved to do a series of paintings that could work either together or singly. (It must have had something to do with the nicely primed panels stacked in the corner by my bookcase.)
Here are two progress shots. The leftmost panel is the one you see completed above. I will post the others over the course of the next couple days. I begin my underpainting in cadmium red, because a former art teacher of mine once said he began landscape paintings with a pink underpainting to make the overlying cool and earth tones pop more.
